FAQs
How does the Angel system customize PRP formulations for individual patients?
Unlike conventional PRP systems, the Angel system uses proprietary 3-sensor technology to precisely adjust platelet, leukocyte, and erythrocyte concentrations in PRP preparations. This is achieved through automated double centrifugation, which separates whole blood into erythrocytes, a buffy coat rich in platelets and leukocytes, and platelet-poor plasma (PPP). As these phases pass through the sensor, differences in light absorption allow the system to identify and collect specific fractions with high accuracy. By adjusting the preset hematocrit value, clinicians can tailor PRP composition to meet individual therapeutic needs.
How long is the spin time for the Angel system?
The Angel system can process 40-180 mL of whole blood in a single cycle. The approximate spin time for a 40 mL sample is 15 minutes. The spin time for a 180 mL sample is 26 minutes.
What is the platelet concentration of the Angel system?
The Angel system has the capability to deliver platelet concentrations up to 18× over baseline and can produce both leukocyte-rich and leukocyte-poor PRP. PRP concentration can be tailored based on treatment goals. Use the Angel Calculator to determine the starting whole blood volume and settings required for your desired final PRP volume and component levels.
How many times can the Angel processing kit be used?
The Angel processing kit can be used up to 3 times in succession for the same patient, allowing up to 540 mL of blood to be processed in a single session.
